Shona Oldham

Weightlifting Coach / Personal Trainer

ARISTOS WEIGHTLIFTING COACH | @COACH_SHO.NA

Shona is passionate about helping people discover mind and body confidence through getting strong! Shona has been coaching with us since 2016 and her motivation lies in seeing the transformation of people through various small changes to their health, fitness and lifestyle, which have led to life-changing results!

Keen to introduce other women to the benefits of strength training, Shona started a weekly ‘Learn to Lift’ small group PT session for ladies only, which is perfect for beginners. You can find out more about this program here.

As well as offering Personal Training, Shona is a registered British Weightlifting Coach and helps to coach our weightlifters at competitions. She has competed at various competitions herself; winning the Scottish Championships in the 55kg weight class and taking Silver at the Masters World Championships in Poland in 2023.

If you have an interest in competing, Shona holds her Level 2 Coaching Credentials and so is qualified to coach you at local and national meets when you are ready.

Mum of three, Shona knows all too well the struggles of juggling work and family life while also trying to make time to train and looks forward to working with you to help you achieve your own personal goals no matter how busy life gets!

Here is Shona’s health and fitness story…

“Prior to my thirties, I had very little to do with fitness. Unless we count a few sporadic gym sessions, that one time I ran a 10k, and those random classes at circus school (true story). Nothing ever made me want to stick at it, and some things I tried almost put me off exercise for good. Yes, Spin.

When I discovered Aristos Fitness, my entire outlook on fitness changed. Exercise became training, and goals soon revolved around what my body was capable of, instead of how much weight I could lose.

Finding joy in fitness encouraged me to train as a coach and compete in both team and individual CrossFit competitions. The longer I trained, the more I found real passion for a particular element of CrossFit - a sport in its own right - Olympic Weightlifting.

I signed up for a local Weightlifting meet in 2018 and have been hooked ever since! Learning the Snatch and Clean and Jerk is as fulfilling as it is frustrating; constantly challenging me to improve my skills both as a competitor and as a coach.

Aristos Fitness helped me discover this love of lifting, and I hope to pass it on through introducing our members to the sport of Weightlifting, whether just for fun or with ambitions of taking home medals!

As a busy mum to Leo, Matilda and Finley, I believe that the mental health benefits of strength training are just as important as the physical ones when juggling kids, work, relationships and everything else life throws at us!”
