Here is Angie’s Health and Fitness story…

“I am very passionate about mental health and well-being - I absolutely love working in the field of mental health and feel very privileged to be able to support clients to improve their mental health and well-being. I have a particular interest in early intervention and feel passionate about tackling the stigma surrounding mental health.

Physical health and mental health are closely interconnected, yet we often find it more difficult to speak about our mental health. My hope is for everyone to feel able to speak openly about their mental health to enable them to get the right help at the earliest opportunity to prevent long term mental health difficulties.

I am currently working as an academic teaching both undergraduate Mental Health Nursing students and postgraduate trainee therapists on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma course. I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2014. I worked within the NHS for 7 years and specialised in the field of child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS). Within this role I have experience working with a wide range of mental health and neurological conditions.  I also had the opportunity to develop a full-time mental health and well-being service within a secondary school.  This enabled me to provide a truly unique early intervention service to meet the needs of young people within the school and break down barriers to accessing mental health support. In the last couple of years, I transitioned into academia and feel very privileged to be teaching the future generations of nurses and CBT therapists.”

How I Look After My Own Mental Health

I have always had a love for fitness, I have found regular exercise in the morning is a great way to lift my mood. I would go so far as saying my own mental health depends on it. Exercise has become an essential part of maintaining good mental health and wellbeing for me, even when I am not motivated, I know that after a workout I will feel so much better. This is why I love working with the team at Aristos to enable them to offer a holistic health and fitness service.

In addition to exercise, I try to maintain a good sleep routine, it is important to take time to switch off from work, I make sure to stay connected to friends and make time to do the things I enjoy like baking or walking with my dog Harris. We are all different, but this is what works for me!

I am very excited to be working with the Aristos team as a Mental Health & Wellbeing Coach and being able to provide the opportunity for clients to access support for their mental health and well-being.

Client Testimonial

“I have struggled with anxiety and an eating disorder since my late teens however during the last couple of years my anxiety had got so much worse and it was seriously affecting my day to day life. I decided to start therapy again and I’m so happy I found Angie.

The style of therapy combining CBT in it has massively helped my overcoming deep routed problems that I had ignored for quite a while, and giving me the tools I need to manage my anxiety on a weekly basis.

I am a big advocate for therapy, I think whether life is getting on top of you or any disorder, it is very much needed nowadays. You take care of your body at the gym and in therapy with Angie. I can’t recommend and rave about Angie enough, she has helped me make already a huge improvement in my daily life.”
